除夜の鐘

長崎と聞くと、グラバー園など西洋の歴史をイメージする方が多いですが、あかりの周りには石橋がかかる中島川やたくさんのお寺があり、和風の情緒ある景色に囲まれています。大みそかの日、お客さんと一緒に10名ほどで目の前にあるお寺へ除夜の鐘をつきに行きました！もちろん海外からの旅人も一緒に鐘をつき、お酒を頂いてお寺めぐりをしました。
私は生れて初めて除夜の鐘をつきました。どうすれば良いのか何も分からなかったのですがお寺のお坊さん方が優しく教えて下さりました。こうやって海外からの旅人たちと一緒に日本人の私たちでさえあまり知らない日本の文化に触れることができて楽しい大みそかでした！

On 31st Dec, we call the day "Omisoka", buddhist temples ring their bells 108times, on midnight. This bell rings are called "Joya no Kane." Each bell rings represent 108 elements of "bonno", defilements, which is said people have in their mind. The bells are rung to repent 108 of the "bonno."
We went to the temples with our guests on the 31st Dec, and rung these bells together! Even for Japanese, it was actually the first time for most of our staffs to ring this special bell! It was very nice that we can experience these Japanese culture together with the foreign backpackers!
